I have ah Brother MFC-7420 multi-function printer that uses this cartrige. I am very happy with the machine, however I do not use the fax capabilities, as I have a Brother fax & answering machine that does that function, and the two do not work well together when paralleled on the same line, rather than being daisy chained, which in my case would be difficult. Some of the features of the machine I like are in the relm of economy. One can easily refill the Toner cartriges, as well as easily rebuild the drum cartrige. The toner empty function can be easily defeated by opaque taping over the window in the cartrige, and possibly restetting machine's the new cartrige switch thus allowing a few more copies. Tapeing is best done on the drum cartrige. Cartriges are reported to have a finite life, and may be reloaded a few times, so I am always on the lookout for ones that have not been reloaded pror. This is why I purchased this one. When reloadng, be sure to vacuum out the cartrige, as that will get you cleaner copies after reloading. I have seen reports that some aftermarket cartriges are misdesigned such they can brake geers in the printer. So the genuine Brother brand cartrige is a plus. As to the copy quality, I am quite satisfied. I use it as a personal machine, but often make 50-100 copies of an item for public distribution.Read full review
I'd previously purchase this model from another online outfit for about $20 more. It was portrayed as a genuine Brother toner cartridge, but when it arrived, the shipping box had about 30 yards of plastic tape, and the actual cartridge was inside this big brown box, inside a "BROTHER" toner cartridge box, that had been opened with an obviously "AFTERMARKET" toner cartridge inside. This is for a home printer, but as a real estate agent, I print somewhere between 7-8000 copies per year. I'd read reviews from places like doctor's offices where they have 3 or 4 of these machines, and warned me against using anything but Genuine Brother OEM factory toner cartridges. This cartridge is DRY Toner for a laser printer & there doesn't seem to be any expiration dates printed anywhere on this packaging. If you need wet ink, like used in ink jet printers, you have to be careful about EXPIRATION dates printed on the outside of those packages. If the ad says "COMPATIBLE, or FOR" a particular printer, it's most likely an AFTERMARKET Re-Filled or Re-Manufactured cartridge. Poor quality control on these cheap Aftermarket cartridges is the biggest reason for other problems with most printers. There's also a neat "TRICK" to almost double the print pages that Brother told me about. When the "Toner Low" message appears, simply remove the cartridge, and put a small piece of black electrical or even masking tape over the clear electric eye holes on each side of the cartridge. This fools the machine into thinking it has a new "FULL" toner cartridge installed, and you'll get another couple thousand printed pages out of that same cartridge. This is the point where I always order a new cartridge, to have on hand, because, when you cover up those electric eye holes, it just stops printing, with no warning, once the toner is completely empty.Read full review

The cartridge and toner have worked perfectly since I got them a couple of weeks ago, but I've only used them a few times. Shipping was very prompt and there were no problems. The real test is if it works for the advertised number of copies, which I may not know for a year or more. Given the low price of this cartridge and toner, I think it's worth taking the chance.

The title says NEW, the box was opened repack with shredded paper, the cartridge bag seal was opened and resealed with clear tape. If this was new then none is this would be the case. Currently I have a cartridge installed so I do not know if this is a refilled one or it was accidentally opened. This should have been noted with the item. I'm not happy of course I do not know for sure until I start using it.

The brothers brand cartridges always work well. Some of the "no names" toner cartridges don't work very well.
