We adopted Kaufmann's Elementary Algebra, 6th Edition because the material was clearly presented and the text had excellent examples., The text has lived up to my expectations. I have adopted the 4th, 5th, and now the 6th editions. Each section contains a sufficient variety of problems that begin with the simple and increase in level of difficulty and complexity and when appropriate there are word problems that fit the material under discussion., I have been a part time instructor at Mission College for 15 years and have used all editions of Kaufmann from the 1st through the 6th editions. It is one of the best books I have taught from because the examples are well paced, starting with simple examples and advancing through the more rigorous until the topic is fully explored. Also, the exercises are well laid out, with approximately 5-8 similar exercises before going on to more difficult exercises. It is very easy to show students the important concepts by using the exercises and their progression.
