Carmen Carter's vision of The Devil's Heart has woven a terrific Star Trek story. When you read it, you feel like you are a part of the story. Carter knows the Star Trek characters well enough to put them on paper and bring them to life in a believable story line worth a Star Trek fan's time to read. I found the book easy to read yet full of the technical stuff of the Star Trek world. The story flowed from beginning to end in a direction that never lost me. A very enjoyable Star Trek Next Generation outing.
Story didn't take long to reel me in and it kept me reading from start to finish. It was well-written and didn't need (or have) sex to mask a bad story. What a refreshing change-of-pace. I could not put it down. Excellent writing in true literary fashion. It may sound cliche', but it was as good as story in the Star Trek genre as I have read. (I have read almost all of them out there.) Why did I buy it? Because I hadn't read it yet. I'd missed it before, but now it one of my sci-fi favorites. Daniel Allington
