MY LIFE IN RUINS - WHAT A GREAT VACATION!!
My Life in Ruins is a PG romantic comedy starring Nia Vardalos and Richard Dreyfuss. Nia Vardalos (Georgia) lost her job as a history professor, traveled to Greece, became a tour guide and fell in love with the tour bus driver. Richard Dreyfuss (Irv) keeps the tourists alive with his usual comical personality. The whole cast was very entertaining. The sightseeing is lovely and this movie provides a taste of what you can look forward to when visiting Greece. I bought this DVD because I knew my Mom would like the movie and I loved Nia Vardalos in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The DVD case says it all - The most fun you can have without a Passport. Calimera!!

A must-see/have for Nia Vardalos fans and those who love foreign countries
Nia Vardalos sparkles in this fabulous romantic comedy about love existing right underneath someone's nose. It's an uplifting, gorgeous film that takes place in Greece (one of my favorite places, makes me want to travel there that much more) and is a beautiful film in all aspects. Richard Dreyfuss' role is sincerely touching and enchanting as he lends wisdom and sage advice. It is a little bittersweet (more sweet than bitter) in the telling of his splendid romance and the charm of Greece itself is sweeping. It is a definite must-watch for fans of Nia's, though it isn't 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' but it is just as good, wonderful and entertaining.

Mature romantic comedy
The heroine of this romantic comedy, Georgia (Nia Vardelos) is a bit more mature than the heroine of a typical chick flick, which works well. Her situation --- bitter over losing her dream job, forced to work as a tour guide -- has a realism and poignancy that would be missing if Georgia were only twenty. Georgia spends all her time complaining and feeling sorry for herself. She is unable to see anything positive about her current job, and has only contempt for the tourists she encounters. As the story unfolds, Georgia learns to stop and smell the flowers (in this case, daisies) and eventually finds romance. If you liked UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN, this film is similar but more lighthearted.

If you enjoyed My B,F,G Wedding, you will like this.
This is a fun movie with Nia Vardalos. At first I thought it was a continuous part 3 of the ,My big, fat, Greek, wedding.but this is a different story ,with different characters.Its a funny romance much like My B,F,G Wedding. If you enjoyed that you will like this.
