Had a ContourHD, wanted an upgrade because I felt the FOV (field of view) was poor on my Contour. I think the C has about 130 degrees and have watched newer cams with up to 180 degrees offer a better scenery. I'm a dirt bike rider, and with a higher FOV you get more of the bike, rider plus you get the track which makes the experience so much better. The issue was that the Contour 2+, Gopro2, Gopro3 are pretty pricey, and for the only stupid purpose to show to friends, and mostly for myself it didn't felt justified to add the $300-$500. So I took a chance in buying this one (refurbished) for $150 including, toll, taxes and shipping to Europe I'm very pleased with the result, it totally delivered. I got what I wanted as in FOV and quality. Negative part was the software for MAC, first of it needed to be downloaded, and then the mess started. Add it on the card on the camera, when starting, the comp couldn't find the camera despite the icon always appear on the desktop. Did a format via the HDMI-cable and the cam connected to the LCD TV, finding the actual format meny was very strange, I think you find it by random, since you only find one library to start with, but when switching the recorder button, you all of a sudden find the other library and can press the format button. Then it worked, got connection to the comp, which is necessary to change settings. Swapped to a new SD-card, lost connection to the comp, did the same procedure, but it failed, then pressed the reset buttom on the cam and it worked. By now I had done so many format, put the polaroid app on the card, back and forward so in the end I became confused what I did to make it working. The Polaroid site sux here, no info to be found, other than here and some forums. Great product, but they need to work this, or at least address the issue and guide us. I lost about 2 hours, which I assume many other Mac user will have to do as well (don't know if this is a PC issue as well). Strange they fail on the easy part. Despite this, I'll totally recommend the product, and most me and others (not Polaroid) have done the hard part for you.Read full review
I was looking for a camera to use while riding my motorcycle on my daily commute and I'm glad I found this! The picture quality is excellent and the sound isn't too washed out by wind noise at speed. I happened to get the XS100HD on sale here on Ebay and I can honestly say that I would've paid full price for this thing! My only slight ding to it is battery life. I get about 2 1/2 hours out of it. That's not bad, but as with all things.....I want just a little bit more. Awesome camera and a great lower cost option to the GoPro!
Purchased camcorder for video of atv trail riding and motorcycle adventures, also use for quick Videos of destinations I stop at.It is small and compact. Bought suction cup mount to use 95% of the time.It is so easy to record with one slide switch. You do have to purchase micro sd card seperately. For under 150 dollars you have a great action camera. So far it works flawlessly and takes great video. Can't compare to anything else. To watch videos just take micro sd card out and put in reader adapter Then put in laptop or desktop to watch. Note, recommend QuickTime so you can get audio because media player there is no audio.I also use anker battery pack to charge when not home.Use 32 gig micro sd card.
