Through the years of being a park ranger in several places and having unusual water systems on my parks at times, I have always used Hach high quality testing supplies. When I retired and bought my home hot tub, these are my testing strips. I highly recommend them.

Good quick pool water tester
This pool water tester is a great quick alternative to drops. You get a pack of multiple strips in a bottle. Open the bottle and pull out 1 test strip. Dip the test strip a few inches deep into the pool and pull it out and wait a few seconds for the test strip panels to change color. The 5 indicator spots are compared to the bottle label and you instantly know the balance level of your pool water. I have had a couple test strips that have had a bad spot that does NOT change color, but for the low price and ease of use, it is not a problem since I just reach for another test strip to get the results. The one thing the bottle label does not have is a solution to the unbalanced chemical levels, which I sometime forget. These strips are the best out there!
These strips are the BEST! Very accurate and easy to use and to read. I use nothing else than these, once a week, and my pool has never been out of balance... because small weekly corrections are a piece of cake. I always hated using the liquid dropper method, as it was always a pain in the butt. But with these strips you just dip & read. (I even use them well past their expiration date because they are that good and stay reliable almost forever.) I am an experienced pool keeper, and these tell me all I need to know....and I'd recommend them highly to anyone who is a novice at pool keeping. You will be glad you bought these. They take all guesswork of of pool maintenance.These strips are the BEST! Very accurate and easy to use and to read.
