This is a deceptively tough workout. My 15 year-old daughter who is a runner was as sore as I was the next day. Everything is at a reasonable pace with modifications. The resistance of the dvd exercisers is given as is the calories they found to be used in the exercise (maximum of those tested and average of the test group). We used much less weight and were really challenged. I cannot imagine being Ben (the advanced, heaviest load exerciser in the dvd)! You will be able to "grow" your workout with this, both by increasing the resistance and by altering the method, e.g., one-legged balance, using a ball, exchanging body weight for dumbbells and eventually barbells for some exercises. The only down about this is that in "Slim and Lean" during the break between muscle groups, the demo exerciser shows four alternative exercises. Since the group following Jari are all regulars, they show mostly only differences in resistance, not super basic choices like pushups against a wall or wall squats, though Jari mentions those as alternatives. If someone is new to exercising, s/he would have no idea how to "do" those properly. As a person who has exercised for 25 years, I did not know that she meant a wall squat with a ball until I did the "Slim" dvd (after "Core"). This dvd is a great choice for non-dancy exercisers, men and women who need to add weight training to their routine.Read full review
I had been working out for sometime mainly doing cardio, but my husband recommended that I incorporate some weight training to my workouts. As a result, I purchased this video along with Ripped 1000 2 weeks ago and already see results. I just completed this workout again about 2 hours ago. Did I get ripped? Definitely. I enjoy this workout as well as Ripped 1000, which is a workout that includes a combination of weights and cardio. On Ripped to the Core there are 9 different workout segments. During the workout you'll use weights to work the upper and lower body at the same time. I recommend anyone that's looking to add weight training to their workouts purchase this video.
This exercise DVD is excellent for anyone who wants to add more weightlifting to their life. The workouts are modified so anyone at any level can get their bodies moving and see results. What I like the most about these exercises are that I actually DO have more energy for the day when I am done. I recommend this and it is very effective. I'm glad to finally own a copy instead of getting it over and over and over from the library.

This version of Get Ripped is a low-weight/high-rep workout. The workout involves compound exercises where the upper and lower body are worked out simultaneously. It's a challenge even with low weight. Ultimately, the amount of weight to use is up to the individual, where the weight should be heavy enough to provide a challenge. It takes about an hour and works all the major muscle groups. This routine made me sore all over (and still does), even though I was already doing weight training with heavy weights. I now like to alternate between this workout to build stamina, and my heavier workout to build strength. Great workout.
Love most of the ripped DVDs. Theses are good overall workouts. Some I do like better than others. I will say though this one has a little more shoulder work than some of the other DVDs. Music is really upbeat.
