2 JL W3's teamed up with an Old school "back in the day" Punch 1200 watt wrapped in a QBOMB dual 12 ported enclosure in the back of a 4th Gen 4runner and Holy Christ...The bass hits so hard it will run you outta the truck... For real. It put a good size crack in my back glass... I gotta get it fixed tomorrow...but that further illustrates my point.

Iv'e used three JBL 12" GT1241D, one 8" JL 8W7, three 12" JL 12W3v3 D4, and now three JL 12W3V3-8, and all I can say is that the JL 12W3V3 is simply the BEST DAM subwoofer ever used. PERIOD. the w7 I bought was because of their reviews, but I wasn't so much impressed, it lacks the very deep low frequencies, then again it's an 8", the JBLs had way higher SPL by far than any of the subs mentioned. But the material quality SUCKS!!! The JL 12W3v2's were probably the best "SOUNDING/SQ" subs I ever heard, better than the 8W7, in fact they sound professional (serious). the only problem I had was the surrounding foam material, It doesn't last for shit. And now I am currently using the W3V3's and let me tell ya..... ....wow, those have greater SPL than the older W3v2 model, sound deeper as well and the surround material is alot better, for some reason they don't bottom out at low frequencies even at loud volumes, the only problem which it might be exaggerating for most is that you really gotta a have a good ear to hear the quality difference comparing the W3v3 to the W3v2, and I feel the W3v2 seems to have a better sound quality possible of the surround material, but like i said it doesn't last for shit, they just seem to have a more realistic punchier cleaner bass than the W3v3 I have now, but keep in mind what I said, you gotta have a really good ear to compare it the the older model, which means you won't really distinguish the performance, so that's why I choose the W3v3 overall as the best. Believe me, those things slam hard!!!!! Oh by the way, I never owned Focal PD series subwoofers, but when I heard them at my local car audio retail, it smokes out JL audio's sound quality, Focal has such a beautiful sound!!! but Iv'e been a JL fan since little and as long as the company doesn't start making cheap quality like Precision Power now, i'm sticking with JL audioRead full review

It's a good sounding sub. Give it 500 watts rms and it will perform the best in a ported enclosure. I have the 10inch version and the 12 hits harder and drops lower. Can handle over its rated power easily, I would say 600 watts it will beat your back.

I'm in the middle of a car build where I'm already above my budget and the extremely well known tuner I use contract out Stereo System. This being the case, to save money I went with these instead of 2 12W6's or 2 12W7's, however, I'm glad I saved that money. These hit SO much harder Than I expected, BTW always go with a higher quality amp, a 250x2 made by Precision Power will sound better and even louder than a cheap Py****d 500x2. Bottom line, these are excellent speakers which can drop really hard and sound great.
I purchased this subwoofer to replace a 7 year old JL Audio sub that had been "used up." As I have all JL speakers throughout my vehicle audio system, I knew I wouldn't be happy with the sound quality of other lesser brands after listening to the JL products for so many years. I searched and found this new model on Ebay and purchased right away. I would highly recommend this and any JL Audio products.
