Liam Neeson (The Other Man) and James Nesbitt (Bloody Sunday) star in this drama about two men who are brought together years after an incident claimed the life of the brother of Nesbitt and Neeson is sent to prison for 12 years. When he is released from prison the two are brought together on a television program to see if they can reconcile their past. Liam Neeson gives a great performance in this movie, possibly the best of his carrier to date. The movie has some violence but overall it is well made and very entertaining. I would get this one, or at least rent it.
A killer who dares not seek forgiveness, and another who feels incapable of granting it. The political divide in Ireland runs as far as it does deep. Alistair and Joe each stand on opposing sides of that gaping chasm. Alistair killed Joe's brother, and for than man who's lost family, absolution simply isn't an option. I though this movie has more going for it that the current action flicks these days. Not a fast-paced moviie, nor a story that pretends to have all the answers regarding forgiveness, resolution, etc. But it is a facinating, amazingly performed study in the attempt of two men to come to terms with a horrific event that destroyed both of their lives. And James Nesbitt's performance is amazing, compelling, and unforgettable. Worth watching.
The movie had way to many flash backs, and profanity could have be less. The 2 title actors Nesbit & Nession did a fair job in playing lead roles but lack direction. I did not see the need for all the mumbling in the movie to many scenes where they both kept going over and over what they wanted to say. Lastly movies like this need to go directly dvd The movie gets no more than a C or 1.5 stars.
I love the actors in this movie. They did a wonderful j0b. The story was ok but it didn't have anything to catch and hold my attention, it was a class B movie in my opinion. I was rather disappointed but the only good thing I can say about it is, I love the actors and they job was great. I do love anyything based in Northern Ireland. Other than that, it was just not what I thought it would be. Waste of money.
