This iPad is a replacement for my 5-year-old iPad 3, which had slowed to a point where even opening the Wall Street Journal app and downloading the latest edition took several minutes (no exaggeration; I could make my coffee and toast and find it still wasn't quite fully downloaded). I'd given my partner a second-generation iPad Mini a couple of years ago, and loved how light and easy it was to use. So when mine finally started biting the dust, it was pretty clear which one to buy. Given that Apple seems not be refreshing the Mini line all that frequently, there seemed little reason to wait until the March 2017 product announcement in hopes prices might fall a little further on current models. I chose the Mini 4 over the Mini 2 because I do like the fingerprint reader (I'm used to that from my iPhone) and I wanted a chipset that would have more staying power. This particular example had been used for less than a year and was in terrific shape, with just a couple of microscopic dings. I use mine in a case anyway so it looks pristine. And it's great for everything I need: books, music, games, video/TV. Charges quickly, holds its charge for many hours, and is easy on the hand.Read full review

Touch screen malfunctions when plugged into power. At 10 to 15% battery life item restarts when new apps are opened. Price was reasonable but since all sales are final I needed to know this before purchase.

This is the 4th device I have bought that was made by Apple. That says a lot right there. I used to say that I would never buy one. Once I bought the first, my opinion was changed forever. As long as Apple continues making phones and tablets, I won't buy anything else, for myself anyway. I bought this tablet for my daughter. It is very lightweight and easy to carry. I can even fit it into my purse. I love the TouchId feature and have since Apple introduced in 2013. No typing in passwords or passcodes, except after restarting the device. The screen has good resolution. Everything I've installed on it runs quickly and easily. The processor can handle all the apps with no problems. I used to have problems with my first tablet (not an ipad) once I started storing/running a lot of apps. Never have had those problems with an ipad. And I don't think I ever will. I also own the Ipad Air 1st Generation. The Ipad Mini 4 has a newer, faster processor. If you're looking for a small tablet, this is the one to buy.Read full review

It's nice and light to hold but I do need to find something that will help me grip it better. It's way faster than my old, big 64GB iPad2 but I had a device to help me grab it and hold it safely. In spite of slight difficulty gripping it solidly, the Mini-4 is great!!! Bright, fast, and light weight. I'm thrilled with it. As far as long lasting battery, I get a good afternoon use for at least 5 or 6 hours if I'm on it constantly and when I leave it on next to my bed at night it still has power left in the morning even if I played with it during the night.
