You can spend pretty much however much you want on tripods. Usually the quality coincides with money spent. Not so with this tripod. This tripod competes with more expensive, equally popular Manfrotto tripods. I tested Most of the Alta Pro line, Manfrotto 0550 series and several versions of the Manfrotto 190 series. I chose this tripod, because it had the best of the Manfrotto's features, came with a much better Ball Head that had 3 way control (meaning, you can free up and adjust the horizontal axis and pan your camera while the ball is locked securely in the socket. Good for panoramas, among other things), and it was about $60 cheaper than the comparable Manfrotto, at least on Ebay/Amazon. You won't get that with any other tripod of this quality. I have played with all of the features of this tripod and they all function smoothly and lock up securely and easily. Little effort goes into making sure your camera gear is safe and secure on this tripod. I love that I can quickly and easily remove the the center column and reinstall it upside down from underneath and get VERY low to the ground. You can literally have your lens touching the ground while being completely secured in the tripod. This tripod is heavy, while not so good for travel, is very good for your standard use, video and long exposures. It doesn't wiggle around in the wind like other cheaper tripods do. Although, this is not a dedicated travel tripod and it is heavier than what one would seek in a travel tripod, it stows away nearly just as easily as some of my travel friendly tripods. The Vanguard Veo is next on my list. I have been and will continue to travel with this unit and it has served me very well. Also worth noting, this tripod ships with an extra QR plate (VERY nice touch), super durable carrying case and a tool set that can be strapped to the tripod for making any necessary adjustments.Read full review

Very versatile and sturdy. Only complaint is that when I tilt the top arm and lock it into place is always shifts a little from where it was locked which is frustrating because I’m doing product photography on the ground.
