Firstly, I have to say that you can never go wrong with a Jack Kirby production, so right away this book has a lot going for it. More than that , however, I think you'll find this title to be extremely ambitious and way ahead of it's time. This requires the artistic scope and grandeur of a Jack Kirby talent to expand on what is a towering achievement in movie making. A noble effort that didn't quite succeed, but this was none the less an underrated gem from the bronze age of comics. Think of the challenge of having the only recurring character be a giant non speaking slab of rock , known as the monolith for those unfamiliar with the movie. This monolith seems to be judging humanity's progress and worthiness over the course of Earth's history. Very fertile ground for examining the human condition, warts and all. And by the way... See the movie if you haven't already.Read full review
