Now this is one I can't put down. Mr. Lindsay - author - has a way with words that just make your skin prickle. I thought the other two were great but this on is even better. I bought all three and would've bought more if they had been written. Not much more I can say about this one except if you can buy it buy it now and read it from beginning to end!!!!
Up to this point I have loved the Dexter series. Trying to get through this book was a chore. Jeff Lindsay decided in this book the villian should be a 3000 year old God that scares away Dexter's Dark Passenger. Dexter in response feels empty and find he can't do his usual work without the missing inner voice. UMMMMM.... WHAT?! Exactly! The only thing that kept me reading this installment of Dexter is Dexter's witty internal monologues which are still somewhat diluted from his normal humor by his whining of his missing passenger. Here's hoping the next installment brings us back to a normal universe where Dear Dexter is up against something a little more down to earth.
This book is different from the first two in the series. It takes Dexter in a different direction. Jeff Lindsey seems to be trying to explain the reasons behind Dexter's dark passenger. "Dexter in the Dark," which could be reality based, has become very bizarre. However, Dexter is still Dexter, as he goes about righting the wrongs and giving the evil perpetrators their just rewards. This book is definitely different than the series on Showtime, but it still a nice ride.
This book was worth the purchase. I am an avid reader of mystery and suspense novels. If I start reading a book and it doesn't catch my attention, I move on. From the first "Dexter" novel I picked up, I have been completely grabbed. I flipped from page to page until the end came. Then, I searched for the next one. Each time, I found a wonderful release. Jeff Lindsey creates a world in which you actually pity the antagonist. You know from the beginning who the character is. You know what his secret is. The irony is, you want him to keep it a secret and you want to keep him doing what he does and how he does it. This book is worth the read and worth the wait. The series, though well played and well written, has nothing on the books. If you are looking to buy a worth while book for a well written read, Jeff Lindsey is your aurthur and "Dexter" is your series.Read full review
If you are a Dexter fan you will love this book me and my ex got into Dexter from the TV show and being an avid reader from chilbirth or maybe a little before than I decided to seek out the Dexter books. They were so good I offered them to my wife who rarely reads her beauty magazines she picked up the first book and did not put it down. We both loved them and this third installment to the series was a total twist as usual Jeff Lindsay creates a masterpiece of dark mind numbing sarcasticlly warped everyday life in the the world of Dexter Morgan the all american homicidal maniac we would all be glad to know really existed.
