It's a reference book full of information for the desert gardener. I live in Colorado's western slope, which is a desert (granted, the book mentions it's for deserts up to 3,500 ft, and we're higher than that by quite a bit), so there's lots of info that I can make use of. The "old look" of this book was somewhat unexpected from the cover photo - the inside pages are black and white on what seems almost like a newsprint paper. The book covers a lot of topics, and the author does not mince words when it comes to unsuitable recommendations perpetuated by one-size-fits-all approach in many presentations out there. I've been a longtime gardener, but I'm finding new info in this book.

This book is awesome. It's meant for desert gardening under 3.500 feet elevation, which is where we are here in Pahrump, NV. Lots of good info about preparing the ground, what to plant near each other and what to keep separate. Looking forward to some good results this spring.

This is the most complete book we have seen about when, where, and how to plant and do so many things here is the desert. If you are a gardener I would highly recommend this book for you.
