Poor quality. Cold solder joints. The capacitors need to be re-soldered in place. I guess I need to buy another one, but I'm concerned that if I buy another one I will just run into the same problem all over again. I wish I could get a higher quality version of this product. Maybe I could go buy a soldering iron and re-flow the solder myself.

I cannot rave about these enough!!! These are the cheapest, fastest to arrive IDE/SATA adapters I’ve bought! Now I can use a cheap-o 120GB SSD as a main boot drive on my old motherboards!! If you are interested in using a SATA SSD in a Windows 98 build, make sure to get a USB-SATA adapter for the drive. Plug it in to your computer, then activate as a Master Boot Record (MBR) drive. DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE. Plug in to the adapter, then to the motherboard, then start your OS installation. Windows installer will format your drive for you (also, enable large disk support)!

Great for IDE / SATA projects. TIP: Used for Windows 98 jukebox project with SATA drive to replace old IDE drive (Clonezilla). Drive was too fast for Windows and caused boot errors. Disabled 32 bit protected mode driver in Windows 98. 16 bit driver was still faster than mechanical drive and works without errors.
