Short of doing True RMS AC, it does everything an inexpensive Digital Multimeter should do. You should have several in your home, especially if you are an Engineer, a hobbyist or DIY person. Some experiments need several meters. Also carry one in your car or backpack. One recommendation - before you use it, squeeze a small amount of clear silicone rubber (RTV) inside the rear of each of the two long probes, wipe off the extra and let it sit overnight. RTV will prevent the wire from twisting inside the probe and breaking the solder connection near the tip. Extremely difficult to fix otherwise. You'd have to break the probe apart.

You can barley get the 9v battery in and close the case. The ground bar which feeds the ground lead jack presses against the 9v battery. Which is ok, because it's just ground on ground, but its not even designed to take a typical battery without giving you grief. $`15 is the cheapest you should go on a meter.

A reliable device at a lo meter.w price. Worth the price but don't expect the same quality as a $100

This has worked for my AC troubleshooting and I assume it would work for low-voltage work just as well.
