Just tested this on a couple of my Arduino Pro Minis, both types 3.3v and 5v and it communicated promptly each time. I pulled it out a few times and plugged back in and Arduino IDE picked up the serial port each time. I only had one issue with the 3.3v Pro Mini, avrdude couldn't upload unless I reset the mini but this is a problem with this board, the 5v had no issue and was made by a different manufacturer. A really nice touch was there is some nice solid clear plastic heat shrunk around the converter. The plastic sits just shy of the pins and usb connector. This means your not touching any actual components on the board which is a nice touch. The pins are very clearly labeled with standard naming convention on the underside of the board, so just make sure you do your wiring before plugging in. Mine is by D-Sun and I'm very happy with it, especially considering it's price.Read full review

I connected it to my windows 10 machine. Showed up in device manager and a red led lit up on the device. Since i didn't have any device at hand to connect it to, i assumed that it would work the moment it found one. But then i started searching some more info about the code 10 warning in windows. And that's where i found out it's only supported until Win7. But it does seem to work fine with older win versions. I don't know about any other OS, wasn't able to test that out. I'm keeping it ! At only .99USD and free shipping it's still worth the money. The description mentions W7 support. But to be complete and accurate, it should mention that it DOES NOT support win8 and above.

I ordered this converter from here because I needed quickly a USB-to-TTL converter to program a small project, which my som was building. I had already many similar units at home, but he needed something which he could experiment with. The unit has 5 male pins and it comes with a 5-lead female-to-female cable. This is the perfect experimenting platform, good for self-build or arduino-based microcontroller projects. The unit worked directly out of the box,I even didn't need to install any drivers (but maybe I had them installed at earlier point). It is recognized as"Prolific" device. Good building quality, LED indication. AMAZINGLY QUICK DELIVERY from China to Norway - 6 days! Recommended !!!

Very pleased with the quality of this product, very nice to have these days even as an extra wouldn't hurt to have just in case for those accidental cross wires.

Works well under Linux. Has sufficient power to drive a radio modem, and the 3.3 volt line (together with external resistors) is handy for pulling necessary pins up or down.
