I decided to purchase this book because Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author and I have read all of his previous titles. I especially recommend his book "Three Weeks with My Brother." I read this particular book during our week at the beach in 2006 and shared some of the details with my husband. He does not usually read this type of book but became so interested, he too had to read it. If you enjoy light, yet interesting reading, Sparks is the author for you!
I started collecting Nicholas Sparks books about a year ago (1st print,1st Edition). I have read a few. You know the ones they made the movies of but really hadn't had time to read any of the other ones. So a few day ago I pulled out this one and decided to try it. At first I put it down every few pages and would pick it back up a day or so later but then yesterday I sat down to finish it. Well needless to say I had trouble putting it down. It was suprising and like all his books I've read so far very good. The ending was a shock and sweet at the same time. I would recommend you sit down with a copy today or by it for someone whom loves to read. It's suprising that this stuff comes from a man. He's great got to give him that. Pick up a copy. You'll be glad you did.
I enjoy this book it was a second part to True Believer. It is about a man who meets the love of his life, Lexie. He goes to do a story on some "mystery light" And he meets her and has a wonderful weekend with her. Only to find out she gets pregnanat form that weekend. So he asks her to marry him. So sweet! It is a bittersweet boook because he never thought he could have kids. But he gets Lexie pregnant. Only to lose her to childbirth! It is a sweet book that is defiently worth the reading!
It is always hard to find a gift for someone well into their 80's. My Mother-in-law was always an avid reader. She has recently started to suffer frequent bouts of dementia. I was concerned about her ability to focus long enough to read an entire novel. I decided to take a chance on this novel. It was engaging enough for her to enjoy. The mental excercise seems to have helped with the bouts of incoherence. This may be wishful thinking, but it was a successful gift. I intend to buy her more novels. It can't hurt.
Let me stark by saying that I never enjoyed reading very much, and then one day I did a search on google for suspense love stories and Nicholas Sparks came up. So, I went to the library on my lunch break one day and got this book. I could not put it down, and for being a NON READER this was a heck of an acheivement. I loved this book so much that I named my daughter after the character Lexie! If they would only have let me read books like this in school!
