I bought one of those Ibanez Tube Screamer Amps. I like the idea that it had 6V6 power Tubes, but one thing it didnt have was a preamp gain. So basically you had to use the built in Tube Screamer to drive the pre amp tube. While the sound is ok, for that, I really wanted a nice overdriven pre amp tube sound. I figured with this I would be able to get that nice overdriven Fender amp sound. While it goes in that direction, and it is highly tweakable, the sound to me is anything but smooth. I guess being a pedal it still has that grainy sound to it.....I guess I should have just bought a Fender Amp, and a hot plate! But for the price I cannot complain.

Instead of buying one expensive pedal I bought about 3 of these Joyo branded pedals and a Chinese tube screamer clone. Mine does have a bypass and it does work. I have the Joyo AC, Joyo Maximum, and the Joyo compressor, and they all work. There have also been complaints of noise with these but I "think" I know what the problem is since I have so many of these in line. When there was noise, they all had noise so I was afraid but once I played them for a while the noise went away. I believe in my case it was my power supply and it's connections. Once the PS evened out or warmed up it was fine. Everyone who has played this loves it. It is not as overdriven as the AC model in case you are wondering. I'll buy the British model soon but I suspect the British will be more over driven than the other two. Both the AC and British model brightens the guitar and also allows the chords and picking to be more articulate. With the attack, volume, and drive you can get it to sound very much like alot of Fender tube amps. Keep in mind, everyone knows Fender distortion is pretty bad, this box makes it sound like fender distortion but honestly I think it sounds better. I play it through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 2X12 and also a Peavy Classic VT 2X12. The Peavy is much brighter than the Hot Rod, and to me this pedal sounds better through the Peavy. But it does sound very good through the Hot Rod as well and allows you to brighten it up just a bit. I'll be buying a few more of these as gifts.Read full review

This is probably my favorite pedal next to my Zvex SHO. I already have a 1968 Fender Twin Reverb amp - and this pedal simulates what it would sound like cranked. I have a Jazzmaster and it sounds great with the pedal and amp. If you put the "voice" at a quarter turn the pedal retains the nice scooped sound of a Twin rather than the more "tweed" style at 3/4. I often don't like distortion pedals - especially the ultra compressed sound of a Tube Screamer - at least with my equipment. This Joyo American Sound pedal retains a more full spectrum sound with good highs and lows. I have a compressor pedal if I need compression. I've decided I like distortion pedals that include amp and cab simulation.

love the sound but does not appear to have a by pass for other effects ... tried several configurations but only the American would work .... my other petals were on but no sound ???

Fun pedal. Lots of instructional videos on YouTube. Easy to use, and gives lots of good fender tones.
