This book could have been so much better. It was the title that got my attention. I thought that the book would be sort of a travelogue - little vignettes and amusing rural legends of people and places across small town America that reflected the characters and the humor of my FAVORITE smalltown - Mayberry. Instead it is largely the memoirs of a former Miss America - who quotes a remark made by Barney, Goober, Andy, etc. and then weaves in a life story of her own...not what the TAGS-ophiles of this world are looking for. I really couldn't even figure out WHY she used the "Mayberry angle" to begin with. What do her memories have to do with Mayberry? Getting this book was sort of like coming across an old trunk in your grandmother's attic and opening it with the thrilling prospect of finding set aside treasures. Instead you find that the trunk contains...canning jars..or some such mundane articles.Read full review

Great book giving more details about her life. She is the funniest and I find myself "looking for humor" daily.

This was a terrific book. Took i to lunch with me and was late returning to work as I was enjoying it so much. Be prepared to laugh as Jeanne retells Mayberry stories and included some hometown humor of her own. Great read!
