WizKids Mage Knight War Games

WizKids Mage Knight War games are collectible miniature games that act as a board game, RPG, and card game. The many features allow players and their friends to use different tactics to win the match. Anywhere from one to four people can play at a given time during a Mage Knight game, which provides several different modes, including solo, co-op, and competitive.

Who created the Mage Knight game?

Mage Knight was first released by WizKids in 2000. Jordan Weisman and Kevin Barrett developed it. The game was the first of its kind to use the Clix System that was developed by WizKids, where a dial is placed in the base of the miniature figurines that displays combat statistics, such as attack/defense values, movement rate, special abilities, and combat damage. The dial will change as the figure takes damage. The usage of the Clix System negates the need for tables and rulebooks when playing the game and has influenced similar creations since its inception with Mage Knight. At the time that Jordan Weisman founded Mage Knight, it was one of the earliest collectible miniatures game.

What is the Mage Knight game about?

Mage Knight is a vast RPG and card game that tasks players with engaging in exploration and conquest. The game starts out with the player taking control of one of four heroes before playing in any number of solo, cooperative, and competitive scenarios. The following are some aspects of the game:

  • Conquer a mage tower to learn powerful spells that change the tide of battle.
  • Attack a mighty fortress and recruit others to the player's fight.
  • Explore a dark dungeon and find a relic or artifact that swells the coffers.
  • Build up their skill set and action deck of cards as they level up when progressing.

The game itself takes over three days to complete. The player who has become the most famous across the land will be the victor.

How many factions are there in Mage Knight?

The land in Mage Knight is split up across a variety of factions, with 12 in total. In 2010, sub-factions were introduced to the game, each of which has its own ability to be a boon to the player or a hindrance when crossing the land. Some of the 12 factions were only introduced to Mage Knight with the release of additional expansions since the launch of the game in 2000. The primary factions across the land include the Atlantic Guild, the Black Powder Rebels, Knights Immortal/Elven Lords, Necropolis Sect, and Orc Raiders.
