Barnett x-bow crank. Received in good order, opened the box and promptly shuddered and closed the darn thing up. Never seen so many parts and pieces in such a small box. Next day with the help of my hunting buddy we decided that it could be done, just figure out how. The first snag was getting take-up spool mounted into stock. Instructions fail to tell you that the spool has to be split (using enclosed Allen wrench) installed from either side and re-assembled. Once in place everything went pretty good, hooks over string, handle and crank lock affixed and crank away, a little harder than expected but manageable by even an old fellow. The strings (cables) got snagged within spool on first attempt but managed to unwind it all the way and then rewound with good results. You will have to read instructions VERY CLOSELY to select the hook holding mount that is affixed with dbl. tape There are three of them. Mine mounted under scope eyepiece and is not in the way. I guess you can call initial panic humerus but all it took was a slow approach. The instruction manual is fair but has good pictures. Good luck and don't be afraid. Uncle BobRead full review

The only thing I don’t like is free spinning.. make it harder to crank your bow. It’s not good to keep the cranking rope on the stock, rope will unwind itself because no way to li lock down. You have to put it on and off every time before and after used.

Well, not really. It is a little bit tricky using the crank. Sticking your toe in and using the pull rope is harder but simpler. Unhooking the crank, pulling out line, clumsily hooking to the bow string, cranking it all the way back until it clicks in place then releasing the cocking cord, stowing the hook then removing the handle is not easier. Takes less strength but certainly not easy or simple. JMHO

Makes shooting my crossbow fun! Pretty easy to install. Make sure to use unscented grease on inside of the crank mechanism. I used waterproof grease that is for sink faucets.
