TP Link not only works well with Alexa (lighting, small appliances) but with it's own Kasa app on your smartphone, you are able to activate the switch from anywhere. I use them to turn on house lights when we stay out late, and turn on the small heater in my parrots' room upstairs, just using my voice. No more trudging up and down to flip a switch. Reliable, and works well with my iPhone app.

Paid $40 for 2 - best price I could find - yes they were out of box, but worked perfectly. Don't forget to "reset" the unit. Clears any previous setup. I suspect these will become a lot cheaper as newer devices appear. Only complaint I have is the size! They cover 2 ac outlets in a strip. You could use a short 1ft extension to solve that problem. Kasa software works perfect. Using for light control in LR and BR. May use for surround sound. at a later date. Have fun.

A little finicky to set up until you’ve done a couple of them. Simple on/off operation with the included Kasa app and programmable scheduling with TP-Link’s Deco WIFI mesh systems as well as Alexa units. I spent nearly $2k on Z-wave several years ago and it was a disappointment. Wish the Kasa devices had been available back then.
