If you are making a really low cost instrument, this neck is OK at best. The finish feels fine, but has a lot of imperfections, plus the color really is that shade (really reddish orange). The inlay looks good as does the truss rod build. However, the Heel is WAY too big to fit in a Fender neck pocket (These guys are obvioulsy not Fender Licensed). Material will either need to be removed from the neck, or from the bass body. Since the neck is bound, in this case, the body would be the likely recipient of the material removal. You will have to chop away a lot, good luck with that. There will be a need for fret work. The finishing is sub standard, so get some good fretting files and smooth the ends. For me, this is what I expected. I ordered the neck with the intent of buying a luthier "practice" neck (I build and repair basses and guitars for fun). For $40, it is perfect for honing your fretting skills, and drilling holes for neck mounting, or even truss rod replacement practice. If you want a neck for a quality bass, look elsewhere. You get what you pay for. But, if you are like me, and want something to practice on, and not wreck a nice neck, then this is the one for you. So it is enjoyable only in the role of practice/test subject. I would never use this on an actual instrument.Read full review

I have just been used to their poly gloss finishes. This satin finish scratches easily. And, the red is just as intense as the pictures. Never have seen vintage this red. You will also need to relief cut the heel width to fit your pocket. I've made this cut on other necks. Will not bother with this one. -I would strongly suggest buying a Kmise neck from U.S. stock. -Good luck.

I bought this for a budget P-bass copy build I am working on, mostly just to get the Fender shaped headstock. I actually like the orange tinted finish, it goes well with the sunburst body I am working with. I had to modify the neck pocket of the body I am working with to make this neck work, but that’s not the neck’s fault. The frets are a little rough on the edges, but it plays reasonably well. The truss rod adjusted out well, which made the action as low as my MIM Fender Jazz was from the factory.

First of all the wood is absolutely beautiful. When I took it out of the box I thought I had hit the jackpot. The neck itself looks amazing. However, the frets needs so much work to be level and not cut you when you try to play it that I have all but given up. I have sanded them rounded them polished them and they still buzz. The neck is absolutely unplayable and so I have just thrown it away. Put a little more money into it and buy a decent neck. This one looks amazing, but it is absolutely useless.
