Product Information

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER - If you thought Mitch McDeere was in trouble in The Firm , wait until you meet Kyle McAvoy, The Associate Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father's small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in college, was elected editor-in-chief of The Yale Law Journal , and his future has limitless potential. But Kyle has a secret, a dark one, an episode from college that he has tried to forget. The secret, though, falls into the hands of the wrong people, and Kyle is forced to take a job he doesn' t want--even though it's a job most law students can only dream about. Three months after leaving Yale, Kyle becomes an associate at the largest law firm in the world, where, in addition to practicing law, he is expected to lie, steal, and take part in a scheme that could send him to prison, if not get him killed. With an unforgettable cast of characters and villains--from Baxter Tate, a drug-addled trust fund kid and possible rapist, to Dale, a pretty but seemingly quiet former math teacher who shares Kyle's "cubicle" at the law firm, to two of the most powerful and fiercely competitive defense contractors in the country--and featuring all the twists and turns that have made John Grisham the most popular storyteller in the world, The Associate is vintage Grisham.

The Associate is an excellent title for this particular novel by Mr. Grisham.

I thought it was excellently written. The pace of the work was just right, not too rapid, no dragging things out. It was the 12th John Grisham Novel I've read since August 13th, when I started my first John Grisham Novel. I completed it on December 10. I'm now on my 16th Grisham Novel. I hope to read all of Mr. Grisham's Novels by my 70th birthday in October of 2021.

  • The Associate

At last, John Grisham has gone back to writing the novels that made him famous. Once again, he has come up with a lawyer thriller, although not as good as his earlier ones, was still a joy to read. The story revolves around a young law student who, along with his friends, was involved in an incident at a fraternity party that is being used to blackmail him into spying on a large law firm. The story goes into the details of corporate spying and how he managed to avoid compromising himself. All in all, a good read.

  • Grisham's done it again!

The Associate is another Grisham's book. He takes you inside the major law offices of the world and gives a great image of day to day life and career for lawyers. Grisham, being a lawyer himself, never like lawyers and has a great time describing the main characters life. In true Grisham fashion, the story takes place with high powered attorneys working hard to screw every penny out of their clients with a threatening life and death situation lingering in the background. Without giving much away, the book does have a rather subtle ending. In typical Grisham books he leaves you hanging to the last word on the last page only to be amazed at the ending. The Associates ending did come as a surprise, but you also felt a little left out on major details. Despite the ending, the book is a ...

  • The Associate

What can I say? It is John Grisham! This one so close to reality it is scary. Who knows it could be going on now. It is about a law student getting ready to graduate. Of course he is very bright & accepted in one of the world's largest law firms. But during his college years he sowed a few wild oats. It was all on tape & the competing law firm blackmailed him into getting secret documents to them. Only a story Mr. Grisham could write.

  • The Associate

I just joined a book club, this was the book choosen to read. Not my style, therefore I would never have read it. The book was excellent, I am now looking forward to reading more from author, John Grisham. Not alot of adjectives, more to the point, kept your interest, but remained an easy read. Brook
