I've had a few Western Digital drives in various computers throughout the years, and they have never let me down. I recently went searching for a replacement drive for a Seagate Barracuda(750G). I use this drive as my main drive in a dual boot system. Partitioned with 40g,50g,60g,and 80g. Total Hdd internal storage space: 2.75Tb. The previous drive(for the same purpose) was the Seagate, but I just couldn't stand the noise any longer(the thing was constantly chattering). The Western Digital is EXTREMELY quiet without sacrificing speed! 99% of the time you don't even know it's running unless you see the HDD light come on in the front panel of the computer. This drive is in a computer that gets turned on and off about 5-6 times a day, and restarted into XP or WIn7 about 4 times a day for various programs. All without a hiccup! As an added bonus it runs about 5 degrees Celsius cooler (about 41degrees C overall temp) than the Seagates I have which run 45-48 degrees C (all without extra fans). I've also had Hitachi and Maxtor, and I'd have to rate the Western Digital best of all for the overall performance. Would I buy another if needed? In a heartbeat! It's a real workhorse for me. Does it's job well! Dislikes: none.Read full review
The Western Digital Caviar Blue 250 GB Hard Drive helped to extend the usable life of my 8-year-old Dell GX270 Desk Top. Although the existing 40 GB Hard Drive was considered a large capacity in it's time, with today's pictures, games, applications, etc., the old Desk Top was basically full and done. Thanks to the Caviar Blue 250 GB Hard Drive the old Dell has been brought back to a life and is as spry and usable as ever...
I have been building systems for 16 years now,i used to use maxtor drives but one day i had one go bad and it was a retail drive under warranty and maxtor would not honor their warranty. SOOOO i went a bought a 320 gb western digital drive a 8 mb buffer model, works fine still today,8 years later. I Highly recomend western digital drives as i own 12 in three pc's one in my dell d610 laptop and they all works very well. I use the laptop daily quite alot and its been very fast and no issues at all!!!
I have used other products in the past but have found Western Digital to be a very durable and price friendly product. I am the type that looks for the easiest way out and by far the Western Digital has proven to me to be just that, a product "Easy to Install". I really can't think of any time I may have been displeased with a Western Digital hdd, long story short, I am very pleased with my WD HDD. The End,
