Very good quality machining, excellent fit.
Cleanly machined, snug but drop-in fit in a new Kimber. Comparable to S&A, Wilson and Brown parts I've used in the past. It did come with a plunger, spring (reduced weight, it feels like) and pin, which is a nice bonus.

Nice sharp checkering provides very good purchase. Mainspring and cap included.
My 1919 vintage 1911 has always been a bit slippery. Combined with new grips with fresh checkering, this mainspring housing serves very well at giving a much better purchase and secure grip. I wish I hadn't waited thirty-five years to switch it out. BTW, it also came with the mainspring, cap, and it's retaining pin included and already installed. Just knock out your mainspring housing retaining pin, slide the old housing out, slide the new one in, and drive the retaining pin back in. Real steel to replace factory plastic
The reason I bought this mainspring housing is because certain top tier manufacturers of 1911's have seen fit to put in a plastic mainspring housing in their product and I would rather not have any plastic parts in the critical areas of my firearms. This item is a value priced all steel replacement for the cheap plastic that Colt used, it is made to the highest standards of the industry and fit perfectly with no modification needed. To my surprise it also came with a hammer spring and follower already installed which made swapping a breeze.The reason I bought this mainspring housing is because certain top tier manufacturers of 1911's have seen fit to put in a plastic mainspring housing in their product and I would rather not have any plastic parts in the critical areas of my firearms.
