Best amp head I've ever played, and I have played them all! It is built like a tank and sounds more Classic/Hard Rock with depth and a richer tone than any Marshall Super Lead/Plexi head could. If you want to obtain the sounds of the classics and Guitar Gods - this is YOUR AMP! Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton & David Gilmour all played on a Hiwatt. And with a Fane 4x12 (SE-4123) cabinet, you can bring Jimi Hendrix & Stevie Ray Vaughn to life! There's a little Eric Johnson in there too. Hands down, best amplifier made! P.S. The reason Hiwatt only offers base cabinets is due to the unusually DEEP and large size of their amplifier heads. This is ALL HAND WIRED & BUILT out of the best parts available. Marshall's Handwired Series can't compete, so they live on through their extensive advertising and marketing only.Read full review
Look.....as a professional ,touring musician....take my advice...there is not,and will not ever be another amp on the planet that can even come close to competing with the mighty Hiwatt......there is a very good reason that all the super bands of the late sixties and throughout the seventies all turned to Hiwatts.... And the user list is endless and speaks for itself....well...very simple.....Tone beyond, unsurpassed reliability, the most prestigious transformers in the world, and they have the tightest, cleanest crunch that has yet to be matched !...Hiwatts are what every other amp should be!!....Good luck catching up with the mighty HIWATT !.......best wishes to all 😀

I've been using the Hiwatt SA 2-12 50 watt combo since 1981 and It has been a great amp. It's heavy and since mine is kept in a touring road case ot's even heavier, but worth the extra effort to move it around. I swapped out the Fane speakers for Celestion green backs years ago , and don't regret it. Other then keeping it original for the sake of resale , I just prefer the Celestion's classic tone. The 50 watts is enough to play just about anywhere, and It's filled arena's and theaters all over the country.I'm so glad I bought this when I did because the word is out and the cost, if you can even find one, has skyrocketed.
