The Pyle PMP45R does what I want. It is a bit cheap but the price is too. Info you may not find: The recording feature is nice and so far has remained recorded with the battery unplugged. From what I can tell, the battery pack is custom for this device and is five lead cells sealed in a custom case that fits nice inside. It has it's own connector pigtail that plugs into the back part with the electronics. The pack has fold-down prongs to plug into a 110VAC outlet to charge. You will have a higher voltage with the pack than you will with the 6 D cells. Some people selling this unit incorrectly state it uses 4 D cells. The 40 Watt power rating is peak power. I am guessing the true RMS power is something like 25 Watts. Valcom 5 Watt PA speakers are much louder. You can probably forget about contacting Pyle for help with anything.Read full review
this megaphone is cheaply made and you can't even attach the microphone to the unit itself, it just has to hang by the plug-in wire itself with no support !
