Plastic pieces started breaking off the adjuster after six months, just as they did on the adjusters in the dishwashers when they were new. Eventually the plastic disintegrates and the rack becomes unstable. pandorasoem wrote about the matching opposite-side adjuster WPW10609578 "Poorly designed. The ratchet that raises and lowers the top rack, eventually snaps the plastic off the track. Just don't buy this dishwasher in the first place. All parts not covered by the are made of cheap plastic that were not designed for hot water. I guess it is replaced until it breaks again in a year or so." Maytag denies that there's a problem with these adjusters, and says the adjusters aren't included in the 10-year warranty on the racks.
