I've had the big brother of this coffee grinder before: a longer cylinder that accepted more beans and thus more grounds. This one is okay, nothing special. You can't really tell when the beans are done, there is very little feel of resistance. On the other hand, the burr grinds the beans to an espresso smooth very nicely. The handle is not held down nor is it tight, so it's bound to come off once or twice while you're grinding. I'll have to work out some kind of fix for that because it's a bit irritating. Not a dealbreaker, just irritating. Otherwise, it's the classic, "you get what you pay for", maybe just a tad better, since it is metal with a porcelain grinder.

I like the small size. It also grinds without much noise. I can do any kind of grind. However, one day I was grinding like usual when I heard a little pop sound and it quit. The plastic drive piece onside the rotor was not strong enough and broke. I had a previous similar grinder that worked for me for several months so I do think it was a good buy for the price. It got me out of a jam when my electric grinder was loaned out.
