Prymaxe offers a nice bundle of this pedal + power supply and two patch cables. The lo-gain version of the PlexiTone offers a nice distinct Marshall tone that stacks nicely with various MXR overdrives to produce a wonderful warm screaming sustain. I bought the lo-gain version because the youtube vids of the regular version simply had too much gain, though at lower gain setting the same unmistakable Marshall crunch was there. This lo-gain version pairs up perfectly with the new Catalinbread Formula No. 55 set on the hot tubes setting (red light) and various MXR overdrives when running two amps at the same time (as I usually do). The lo-gain also cleans up nicely at lower guitar volumes. It's a welcome addition to my bevy of amp-like overdrive pedals.

Interesting box. It's pretty flexible, especially when rolling off the volume on the guitar. But it is quite noisy, with the gain turned up anything past 10:00. It really tweaks the frequencies in your rig, and not always in a pleasant way - very mid scooped and shrill on the high end. I found it works best with a super clean amp, like a Bassman or Fender Twin. Get your best clean sound and then spend a good amount of time dialing in a big overdrive sound with the PlexiTone. Or, just dial in the best sound with the PlexiTone on all the time and control everything from the guitar volume and tone. It definitely has a sound that can be inspirational, that's why I would recommend it. If you really go for a lot of gain, be ready for a lot of noise. Just wish it was a lot quieter and had better tone/frequency control. A switchable EQ helps some. It's a solid build, and should last many years.Read full review

Don´t be fooled by the Pete Thorn´s youtube video, this pedal sound horrible. It lacks of quality tone and the drive knob is unsuable (too much horrendous and noisy gain). The construction quality sucks big time as well. It´s what you could expect from a low budget chinese pedal but of course with the big time bucks! Completely dissapointing.

I have found the perfect overdrive pedal. This thing nails it. Sweet but nasty at the same time. Versatile. Works great as a boost to an already over driven amp or as a stand alone distortion. Built like a tank.

I recently purchased the single channel Carl Martin Plexitone pedal. My main distortion pedal is the Dirty Little Secret pedal. I'll be using the Plexitone in conjuction with this pedal. It will be good for a more high gain sound. I like both pedals. The sound characteristics are different but good. The dirty Little Secret pedal is a little fatter but doesn't distort as much as the Plexitone. I also like the fact that they are the same size and don't take up a lot of space on my pedal board.
