It has a state-of-the-art 16MB cache, and the NCQ software increases the drive's performance even during the most challenging applications. Included is SeaTools, a diagnostic software that regularly performs a self-test. It also supports S.M.A.R.T. reporting and monitoring technology, allowing you to easily review the drive's performance.Built-in scan diagnostics and calibration in this 500GB hard drive ensure peak efficiency operation. Every time you turn on your PC, the Seagate Clean Sweep feature calibrates the drive and fine-tunes it to maintain reliability. Seagate's unique Adaptive Fly Height maintains the distance between the three 167GB platters and the disk head. The SoftSonic Motor gives you whisper-quiet operation. For protection against data corruption from hard handling, Seagate includes its Enhanced G-Force Protection.     Overheated

    After I replaced the existing hard drive with this one, I installed the OS. After the desktop computer restarted, it would not boot up and was showing ODD error. When I touched the new drive, it was very hot. I reformatted this new drive and tried again. Same issue, very hot and wasn’t working at all. Tried accessing the drive with drive inserted into my remote USB docking system and connected to a laptop. No luck, it was not showing up.

    500 GB, Serial ATA) Hard Drive

    The hard drive was the right size that I needed for my security system. It has been months and so far the hard drive is working fine. I am also thankful in the timeliness of the delivery of the product and how well the packaging was.

    Great Product! Very Reliable!

    Seagate hard drives are the best very reliable and sturdy never had any issues with them. This 500gb hard drive is one of the best for the size and very fast for the price. good deal all around!

    Kinda works

    It faithfully wrote about 200GB of data and then stopped working. After cycling power a couple times I got the drive to boot up again, but won't trust it again. Besides, when it was writing data it made loud scratching sounds. I may just have a dud.
