This is a great Android tablet. Asus didn't add too many bloatwares. To the contrary, the tablet is extremely configurable to the way you want it. There are some very cool animated screen savers and backgrounds that come preloaded. One of the best features I discovered was the ability to remote desktop to your PC through the Splashtop application (which is also preloaded and free). On the down side, the battery life is not great. If you leave the tablet on all the time, you can get about 2 days out of the battery before having to recharge it. And there's the inevitable comparison to the ipad. A few popular apps like Skype do work but not with all the functionalities you see on the ipad - Skype does not yet provide the ability to video call with the Transformer. I also tried using apps like Tango to make video calls, but I was told that the sound was very low on the other side of the call. So the experience is not as sleek as on the ipad. The Transformer is a great deal due to its price. It's a good ipad alternative, but you won't get everything you get with the ipad, that's why I gave it 4 out of 5 starts.Read full review
When I received my Asus TF101 there were no signs to indicate that it was a refurbished product. The only thing missing was a manual and that would have been useful considering I had no experience with Android operating systems. The unit I received worked well except for an occasional gray screen issue that was resolved by turning the tablet off and on - it was more an annoyance than a serious problem. However, that issue ended abruptly a few days ago when I was notified that the Android 4.0.3 operating system and new firmware was available to install. It took 20 minutes and now there are currently no problems and the tablet works even better. So far, I am very satisfied. The features I like best are the ability to customize almost everything, the easy access to the file system, and the ability to increase the memory using a mini SD card. It cost me $12 to go from 16gb to 32gb.Read full review
I had been looking for a Tablet for a year or two, I was looking for one with gps, and other features (in my price range) :-) I found the Asus brand was the one I always liked so I searched prices... Google found me a great deal, it showed an Asus Eee TF101 16gb w-Ice Creme Sandwich and I have a 16gb memory card so that would be perfect! This tablet can replace game consoles, obd2 readers, thermometers, gps detectors, wifi detectors, barometer, weather stations, weather channels, music channels, just to name a few --- you name it!!! "ALL IN ONE TABLET" Ok now the good stuff... Well theres tons of awesome apps I have literally turned my tablet into a weather station with the apps I have. Music dj app ! Photography apps - I can take pictures faster with one app, obd 2 sensor app check your cars stats, just to name a few. Ever since I received the tablet it has been a joy to use. If its gaming, shopping, checking email, downloading apps, etc. Always fun. The screen is brightly colored and if your watching movies or playing games its just amazing. The tablet includes Google maps and well its great! And after the recent update even better!!! The battery life is very good, I do not yet know its hours I have not tested it. But its quite long. I can have multiple web pages up and browse w/o issues Build quility seams durable especially the screen! I have a few games that are fun to play but I think a Bluetooth Remote might make it easier. Ok now what I did not like Its slightly heavy to hold after awhile other than that Nothing really.Read full review
I bought this tablet for use for school, and it's been perfect so far. It's small and lightweight so I can carry it from home to class and I have my ebooks and notes on there. I use it as an actual notebook and the 7notes with mazec app has handwriting recognition and allows me to write on my tablet and convert my notes to text. I can also upload PDFs and open them in the MyLibrary app, which lets me take notes and draw on them. The camera also works great, and sometimes I'll record lecture or take pictures of the board. It doesn't do a lot of the things an actual PC would, so I wouldn't write papers on it, but it does exactly what I need it to.
At first this tablet was the most amazing thing I had ever owned, but as the college semester continued, I realize that the size and battery life are the best I could ever ask for but the software and honeycomb OS make things just a little more complicated. You have to re-route the way you've always done things so that it will be compatible with android. Alot of programs out there for download are only for Mac, Windows, and Linux, not honeycomb....so if you can spend the time to find a app comparable to most programs, like paint, skype, google chrome, etc. then it will be a great computer. Once the android market becomes more widely used, this will be an excellent tablet.
