I bought this, because the cassette I bought of it back in high school finally gave up the ghost. It's an excellent example of what a grand compilation should be: A variety of artists and rock music that all hold together as an solid album. The only problem I have with the cd version, is the Sonic Youth song "Burning Spear" is only available on the cassette version. But don't let that stop you from buying this cd. Because the other 19 songs more than make up for the missing SY song. Album highlights are provided by Pavement, Matthew Sweet, Barbara Manning, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Goo Goo Dolls, American Music Club, and Straightjacket Fits. These are the songs I find myself repeating over and over. The rest are all solid rockers as well. Do yourself a favor, and buy this disc, cuz it usually goes for cheap and you cant beat cheap awesome music.Read full review
This collection of various artists should more than satisfy anyone who likes alternative/pop-rock music, with great songs by Matthew Sweet, Sarah McLachlan, Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Gould, Soundgarden and many more.
although this compilation is all over the place, there are a number of reasons to own this. first, it sells on ebay for next to nothing. second, there are cool rarities for the collectors. the patti smith track is priceless. the nirvana track is nirvana at their pixiest...buy it now.
one of the best overlooked compilation album of the early nineties..not scrap songs but true gems from artists that helped define an era in the music scene.
Good diversity from the 90's. Reason I bought CD was becasue I wanted the Nirvana song that is not listed, track 19. last song.
