...even though Blood Omen 2 doesn't measure up to its predecessors, it's a game worth playing. I rented Blood Omen 2, and put the game in the PS2. My initial impression was not favorable. I thought at best this game deserves a 7/10. However, to see it through I finished the game. And even though Blood Omen 2 doesn't measure up to its predecessors, it's a game worth playing. Well, let's get into the knitty gritty of this game, and disect it :) Gameplay 8/10 As far as gameplay, there isn't much really. You have a couple of elements. Killing people and enemies to drain their blood, to increase your Health bar. Fighting enemies that fight you back, which is repetitive and boring as every enemy has a certain attack string. And you can block everything except certain unblockables which will only happen in a certain predictable string. So basically the fighting is mega boring after the first couple of times you encounter the same enemy. Then you have the puzzle element of the game. And that's not bad. The puzzles are fun, but not very challenging. So far I would have had to give the gameplay a 6/10. However, we have one more element of gameplay, and that is the boss battles. They are innovative, and super fun. So this boosts my grade up for gameplay to 8/10. As far as the controls, they are pretty responsive, and well put. As for difficulty, the game overall is not that difficult, although, you have to be pretty familiar with video games to be able to handle some of the bosses, and puzzles. So I would say difficulty wise its a 7/10 for a new videogame player. Story 7/10 The story is not bad. However it has a lot of loopholes, and you will face a couple contradictory elements. However, you will get to know Kain very well, and I have to say I have a new found respect for the character. Audio 9/10 Music: Not much music.. So I can't comment on that. Voice Acting: The voice acting is superb as always. And for that it would deserve a 10/10. BUT, there are glitches at certain parts in the game where the video and sound are out of synch. And going through messageboards, I have seen that many people have gone through this. My PS2 by the way works fine, I tested it with other games. It just seems to be a design flaw. For that I give the Audio 9/10. Video 9/10 The background graphics are amazing. The character designs are not bad. There are very few FMVs, maybe 2-3 in the whole game. The game mostly uses regular sequences (with the game characers lips moving, to simulate a scene), rather than FMVs. Replayability As far as replayability, I would have to say this game has no replayability. When you finish the game, there is basically no point playing it again. Specially since the gameplay mechanics are fairly boring. Now for the Big Question, which is should you buy this game or rent it? Well since this game is not very long, and has no replayability I do not recommend buying it. However since it is worth the play, I do recommend renting it. :) I hope this review helps someone :)Read full review
This is a pretty good game. One should listen to OOma in the first chapter especially about how to execute the special powers holding down the O button. The whole game reminds me more of a PS 1 game but still it is entertaining. Soul Reaver 2 was definately better. I heard about Blood Omen 2 from the trailer on the Soul Reaver 2 game. Too bad these people don't stick with Soul Reaver 2's game design, it was dynamite. The bosses in Blood Omen 2 make Kain seem like a wimp..but then I caught on that you can just stand still in the 1st scene and not move and the bosses usually waste themselves so you can go to the 2nd part quicker. All the bosses have 3 parts to them. Eh, it still is a good game.
On the good side the whole game was playable however you can't get past the end credits it freezes it also lags near the end of the game but mostly in cut sense over all the game and gameplay are great but the quality of the disc was a bit on the poor side but complaints aside you can still beat the game without fear of crashing or glitching in gameplay

I love this game because it's graphic, and "dark". The game story is pretty interesting (medieval mixed in with a little sci-fi). The characters are good, and the game play itself is deffinately exciting (with all the "powers" upgrades, not to mention the ability to use different weapons you find along the way!!!!!!) The only BAD thing about this game is the sound. There are times in the game when the "background" noise is actually LOUDER than the voice of some of the characters in the "movie" parts of the game. As soon as the "movie" part is over, the sound returns to normal. Other times, the sound will either be too slow (not follow what is happening in the game), or not there at all!!!!!!!! - Some actually MINOR issues, unless you really get into the story!!!!!!! If you can get over the sound problems of the game, then it is DEFFINATELY worth buying!!!!!!!!!! In all honesty, I have already beaten the game 4 times, and yet I STILL love to play it from time to time!!!!!!!!Read full review
I played this game on the XBOX. Tired of all those Billions of stupid sports and shooting games outhere? If you like dark and gothic games, this is the one for you! OUTSTANDING MUSIC, ACTING VOICES and graphics. Im not a video game junkie, but I like to have a selective variety of games that I like to play whenever I have time,,,,but this one, I couldnt put it down. The controllers are very simple to use, and the story line is also addictive/excellent, from the beginning, 'til the end. Not really want to get into any details, of what this game is all about, just because I want you to try it. Now that the new Xbox is out, this game will stay in my small collection, at least until my console kills over. Now is cheap BUY IT.
